What do diverse GPs bring to venture capital?

OMG - it’s February! Seems like the momentum has been going strong since the start of the year for everyone. After a couple slower years of foundation building, this is a very exciting energy to be a part of.

Here are a few updates from me from the last few weeks:

I got to dive into my healthcare systems vision on a panel with the COO of Mayo Clinic, at Bioscience LA last weekend …

In other news: Here’s what I think diverse GPs bring to the wild world of venture capital

In our space, we talk a lot about the fundraising experience for underrepresented founders .. but what about the fundraising experience for underrepresented GPs? What do we bring into this industry?

We are here to change the landscape of venture investing, and not only from a representation perspective. I believe that the perspective we bring as GPs with very different backgrounds from the 99%, can fix/save our industry which so many people are critiquing these days.

Particularly, we:

-identify better ventures earlier on, not only because we have vastly different networks and different biases, but because we see important systems solutions for our industries that other VCs can't - due to our lived experience of always having had to work harder / question EVERYTHING through our lives/careers. We aren't happy with our status quo of how we live, work and play in so many industries and can see founders' visions with great ground-level clarity.

- create a safer and more supportive foundation for early stage founders, because we often bring operator experience as having been an underrepresented founder in the past ... so we can help founders overcome their inner mindset and identity blocks to go build multi-billion dollar companies

- bring a whole new energy to the space with integrity, dedication, and commitment. We are active participants, not in it for ego. It's about helping every founder in our portfolios succeed in the long-run to impact the most number of lives, and we're willing to work hard to support that mission. In fact, there are stats about how emerging managers seriously out-perform other managers due to this.

I know that a lot of you are so tired of venture capital as a category these days. My hope is that by raising a fund, I can help bring much needed change into this industry.

In the meantime - I am still coaching founders 1:1 on how to create a stellar, holistic pitch deck that reflects your vision and how to hold a strong container for fundraising. Book a call if you want a complimentary 45 min session with me where I’ll help you ground deeper into yourself and identify the top 2-3 shifts needed for your pitch deck or mindset in order to fundraise successfully. If you don’t have funds for my deeper packages, I still offer my Micro-Journey which is 4 calls over 3-4 weeks, at $460!
