Impact is the New Oil - Why We Are The Leaders Now
Social impact visionaries, creators, leaders, and humanists: We often think of ourselves as the "other" - this makes sense. Social impact initiatives inside corporations and even governments are usually a "side" issue to capitalism, where profits come at any cost. The space that we're paving always seems to have a flavor of being on the "outside" looking in because we don't agree with that ethos.
There are a lot of people talking about blending profit and purpose, and creating returns for investors. But too often the conversation is still around "giving up" a portion of profits in service to the greater good. This is a fallacy.
The innovations that will catapult humanity into its next phase of evolution are necessarily the most powerful - and lucrative - ones. There is no longer a dichotomy between impact and returns. We must realize this, in order to be able to communicate the value that our innovations bring, BECAUSE they are foundationally relevant and can withstand the test of time and create ripple effects (all of which we normally leave out of our pitch!)
When you are able to communicate this bigger vision in your pitch, you will be surprised at the enormously quick and easy outcomes you are able to magnetize.
