Why calling yourself a founder changes your identity

"What’s in a name? That which we call a rose

By any other word would smell as sweet.

So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called,

Retain that dear perfection which he owes Without that title."

Though you're always the same perfect you, if you get used to calling yourself "founder" you reap the benefits of:

- reinforcing your vision out loud in the 3D, bringing it to life while others witness you in it. It's almost like bravely casting a spell to bring it into reality, even though you might squirm a little talking about yourself in that way.

- changing your public identity and perception. Founders raise money - lots of it. Founders change lives. Founders move industries. You're a founder.

- BUT ... make sure not to make it a box. "I'm leading change in my industry" is even better, because it allows you to think beyond just your product, to creating thought leadership/press, or creating systems impact in different ways.

Let me know... have you struggled with owning your identity as a founder, and how did you reconcile it until it felt normal?

Best part: This is all a normal part of the process. I talk to founders all day long who are queasy talking about themselves ... until I help them nail their 2-3 bullets that showcases their experience and they realize it was who they were, all along.
